Amnesty: Unruly asylum seekers need support and separation

Should asylum seekers who’ve committed crimes be kept separately from others awaiting permission to stay in Switzerland? That’s the proposal from a minister in Ticino. Norman Gobbi is  pushing for the canton to build separate facilities to house asylum seekers who’ve been convicted of minor crimes like theft. Over the weekend, the head of the Federal Migration Office offered his support for the idea.

To discuss the proposal further, WRS’s Dave Goodman talks to Denise Graf, who is coordinator for issues surrounding asylum at Amnesty International Switzerland.
